The day is almost near. Join us Oct. 2nd, 2023!!
The big day may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re always planning next years Annual EPIC Wrongful Conviction Day event!
54% of all wrongful convictions are a result of POLICE/PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT. It is also said 1 in every
100 enslaved persons are said to be factually innocent of the crime they're convicted of!
This Annual EPIC Wrongful Conviction Day will be solely dedicated to an EPIC Legend, that EPIC was honored and priviledged to grown to know, love, and adore- ISAIAH ANDREWS! He was truly a huge inspiration to us and our future fight. Isaiah Andrews was wrongfully convicted of a CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT for 46 years in Cleveland, Ohio in 1975. He was accused of killing his beloved wife Regina Andrews- whilst not knowing until 2019 that the state with held evidence that another man who was arrested and let go after MUCH of the evidence highly favored him being the prime suspect in the beginning. Isaiah Andrews NEVER knew this until 2019- which was when he was able to file motions to grant him a new trial. He was released on house arrest whilst waiting for a judge to decide whether to retry him or not. We rallied outside the justice center bringing attention to his case last wrongful conviction day- and then the day his court hearing took place at the end of the same month. We were baffled that visiting judge TIMOTHY MCGINTY decided to retry him. EPIC made their presence in the days of his new trial and was happy to see the week long trial of reading transcripts the victory from the jury who UNANIMOUSLY found Isaiah NOT GUILTY (Oct 2021) after 46 years of pain and suffering. Isaiah was very ill and battling cancer. Our EPIC President Jeanna Kenney spent many days and moments with Isaiah building a bond she now holds VERY near and dear to her. Isaiah was fully exonerated and deemed a #FINALLYFREE man March 2022- however passed away days prior to his 84th birthday- and WEEKS AFTER HIS EXONERATION! EPIC was there every step of the way and made sure, and will continue to expose the injustices he endured. He was the THIRD longest wrongful convictions in the country!
HIS STORY MATTERS! HIS STORY AIN'T OVER YET!
We currently have a fundraiser - #LONGLIVEISAIAHANDREWS launched to bring justice to his final resting place. We are seeking the community and our supporters to come together on behalf of providing a marker to his final resting place (burial site) by gathering funds through this fundraiser. Due to his religion that we've honored and respected- it is not permitted to put a headstone, but the cemetery had marker options and has quoted us $3,984- including installation and everything. We are also looking into a bench on the sidewalk near his resting place in his honor as well. And our final dedication and honor of Isaiah we would use whatever funding left to lock in a space for a mural to honor his legacy. It is very important we continue to tell his story because these are the injustices happening everyday in our judicial system and we the taxpayers and those affected by incarceration must stand up and speak out about it. We can NO LONGER allow those involved in these wrongful convictions to NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!!
#AbolishAbsoluteImmunityNow will be a future campaign we launch in the near future to ensure accountability is had!
And LASTLY in honor of Isaiah's upcoming angel anniversary date and birthdate- we will relaunch our WINDOW CAMPAIGN to spread awareness in honor of Isaiah Andrews! We are asking EVERYONE EVERYWHERE to participate in a week long window campaign and SEND US YOUR PICS- firstname.lastname@example.org!!!!!
